Optimising renewable energy integration in new housing developments with low carbon technologies

Since buildings account for more than one-third of final energy use, it is important to integrate renewable sources new housing developments reduce demand grid and carbon emissions. This research investigates the potential solar PV, storage, electric vehicles in their associated impacts by taking UK’s Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Oxford arc as a case study. Using published data on electrical loads different types dwellings, demands with without low technologies are analysed using techno-economic modelling frameworks. Technical analysis includes sizing optimisation PV storage while economic covers cost-benefit analyses, considering range existing future tariffs subsidy schemes including Standard, Economy 7 (cheaper electricity h at night), Feed-in tariff, Smart Export Guarantee. Results show that installing panels systems not only reduces dwellings’ 31% January but also helps dwellings become net exporters green July hence saves substantial amount money advantage tariffs.
